The Question:  Some fish, some dogs and some children are swimming in a bay. There are 40 legs in total, twice as many heads as tails and more dogs than fish. How many fish are in the bay?

Answer: Fish hasn’t got any legs. Dogs have 4 legs and a child has 2 legs.
All of them have heads.
If we say there are t tails there are 2t heads.

Let’s say x for child, y for dogs z for fish.

4y + 2x = 40 (i)
2z = x + y (ii)
z> y (iii)

from (i) and (ii) 2y + 4z = 40 .. in the question said that z > y and 4y + 2x = 40 .. Now, let’s look the opitons because this riddle have 3 answers.

for y = 2, z=9, x = 16
for y = 4, z = 8, x = 14
for y = 6, z = 7, x = 8
